Ariz. corrections officer accused of engaging in sexual acts with inmate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – An Arizona Department of Corrections officer was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a female inmate.
Anthony James Marotta, 26, faces two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with an inmate.
According to Maricopa County Superior Court documents, an inmate reported a possible sex act that occurred while she was driving a transportation vehicle at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Perryville in Goodyear on Dec. 24.
She reported that she looked in the rearview mirror and saw Marotta sitting in the back of the vehicle with another female inmate. She said it appeared they were engaged in a sexual act.
The inmate was interviewed and said that she had engaged in oral sex with Marotta in the transportation vehicle and another time in November.
Marotta was interviewed and admitted to engaging in sexual contact with the inmate on Dec. 24, according to the court paperwork.
His bond was set at $15,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 9.
Marotta has been employed by the DOC for three years.
