PHOENIX -- Getting fit is one of the most common New Year's resolutions. But as we all know, that commitment often fades quickly.

Experts at The Body Lab joined us Thursday on Good Morning Arizona with some tips on how to make that resolution stick, and get fit in 2014.

"You really have to find something that you love, and do your best with it," advised Body Lab trainer Kiki Cordero. "Don't make it a chore. Make it part of your everyday life. That way you can actually get up, make it part of your day. Be stress-free. Realize that it's going to benefit you more than anything."

But starting a new routine can be overwhelming. "It absolutely is a challenge," Cordero agrees. "You really have to make the time. Make time for you. It's what's going to make you feel better inside and out."

The Body Lab is a new fitness studio in Scottsdale, and brings one of L.A.'s hottest workout trends to the Valley. The workout is a unique blend of Pilates, cardio and strength training, and is specifically designed to strengthen, tighten, and tone the body quickly and safely.

At the core of The Body Lab training method is the Megaformer, which is an evolution of the traditional Pilates reformer. It is designed to cater to both upper and lower body muscles, using a system of springs and pulleys to accommodate the resistance and counter-resistance elements of the workout.

"It's kind of a play off the classical reformer in Pilates," explains Cordero. "But the Megaformer actually has more capabilities in the sense that you can work off the front and the back of the bed. There's a lot of standing, lunging and squatting. All in all, it's a full-body workout."

Classes are 50 minutes long. Trainers recommend this workout about three to four times a week. The Body Lab is located at  20511 North Hayden Rd, Suite 145, in Scottsdale. For more information, call 480-473-4535 or visit
