PHOENIX -- Millions of users of the "Snapchat" smartphone app may have had their personal information hacked.

Hackers claim they infiltrated the app this week, and posted members' usernames and phone numbers.

Snapchat says the hack affected 4.6 million users.

The app, which is popular among teenagers, allows users to exchange pictures and videos that appear for a few seconds before vanishing.

The hackers say their goal is to force Snapchat to improve its security measures.
