Mesa 13-year-old missing since Monday

MESA, Ariz. -- Police are turning to the public for help finding a teen who has been missing since Monday.

According to the Mesa Police Department, Jophrey Cord left a note for his family explaining that he was running away because they would be better off without him.

The 13-year-old does not have a cell phone with him, nor did he take any money.

Jophrey's family last saw him at their home near Meridian Road and Mesquite Street at about 4 a.m. Monday. He was gone when they went to wake him up the following morning.

Jophrey is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a purple shirt, jeans, skater shoes and a light blue fleece-lined hoodie with "Hurley" on the front.

Police say Jophrey's family is moving to Tempe and that Jophrey goes to school there.
