1 Dead, 1 critical after shooting at apartment complex; 2 suspects on the loosePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- One person is dead and another is critical condition after a late-night shooting at a Phoenix apartment complex. Police say they are looking for two suspects.
It happened just before 11 p.m. Sunday in the area of 27th and Northern avenues.
The Phoenix Police Department had set up its mobile command center at the back of the complex and officers in squad cars were looking at cars parked along neighborhood streets.
Police say officers arrived on the scene to find two people who had been shot. Both were in critical conditions when they were rushed to a local hospital. One of the victims later died of his injuries.
Neither victim has been identified.
According to Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos, the two victims were inside an apartment when the two suspects arrived.
"Some argument occurred between all four of them, resulting in the shooting" Martos told 3TV's Ryan O'Donnell. "At this point, we're still trying to develop information on these two suspects."
Investigators have not determined what led up to the argument and subsequent shooting. They are trying to figure out if the shooting might have been the result of a drug deal that went south.
"We're still on the scene trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together," Martos said at 7 a.m., some eight hours after the shooting.
