PHOENIX -- The Valley of the Sun will live up to its name Christmas week.

High pressure building in from the west will keep skies sunny and allow temperatures to rise to slightly warmer than normal for this time of year.

Sunday, Sky Harbor Airport recorded an official high of 62 degrees. Normal for this date is 65 degrees.

Monday morning, expect a low of 40 degrees in Phoenix with an afternoon high of 68 degrees. Winds will be light.

In the high country, Flagstaff will see a Monday morning low of 15 degrees with an afternoon high of 40 degrees.

The warming trend modestly continues into Tuesday with Valley temperatures expected to reach the 70-degree mark.

For Christmas morning, look for a low in Phoenix of 43 degrees with an afternoon high of 71 degrees under sunny skies.

Forecasting models indicate temperatures will not fluctuate much for the remainder of the week.

Looking ahead to next weekend, some of our forecasting models indicate an area of low pressure impacting Arizona Saturday or Sunday. Right now, the data is too inconsistent to be able to say if or how low our temperatures will drop. Stay tuned.
