Police: Man hit, killed by car in crosswalk

PHOENIX -- A man died early Sunday morning after being hit by a car in Phoenix.

Police said the man was in a crosswalk but crossed during the "don't walk" signal.

The collision occurred about 12:30 a.m. on Bell Road at 19th Avenue.

The Elroy Gorman, 27, was walking north in the east crosswalk at 19th Avenue when he was hit by a 1993 Lincoln Mark 8, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the Lincoln, a 26-year-old man, did not show signs of impairment.
