PHOENIX -- A winter storm continues to work its way through Arizona on Friday.

Rain started falling in the Valley Thursday evening and continued into the morning hours. Most Valley neighborhoods got between half an inch and an inch of rain, and a few spots saw thunderstorms, too.

Isolated showers are possible throughout the day, although widespread showers are not expected again.  Temperatures will likely only peak in the upper 50s today.

The storm moves out of the state from west to east today, with lingering snow showers in the high country through tonight. Storm totals as of this morning include 7 to 8 inches of new snow in the Flagstaff area, with higher amounts at higher elevations. Although more snow is possibe today, not much additional accumulation is expected.

No more Valley rain is expected this weekend, but cooler temperatures will stick around. Look for highs in the 50s again Saturday under partly cloudy skies, and highs in the low 60s on Sunday. Overnight lows will drop to the mid-30s to mid-40s.

A warmup is expected for early next week with upper 60s and sunshine in the forecast for Christmas.
