TEMPE, Ariz. -- A driver was lucky to escape virtually unharmed after wedging his vehicle under a trailer carrying a backhoe.

It happened at Curry Road and Harold Street, which is northeast of Scottsdale Road and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway.

The trailer was apparently backing into the yard of a storage facility when the car hit it. The front end of the car was crammed under the trailer.

The driver was able to crawl out of his car through the passenger-side door.

Nobody was transported and despite the serious damage to the car, no serious injuries were reported.

A tow truck hauled the car out from under the trailer bed.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
