PHOENIX -- A strong storm system is making its way down the West Coast and will impact Arizona by Thursday night.

Scattered showers are expected to develop around metro Phoenix Friday morning with the possibility of about .25 inch of rain. Some ares of the Valley could see more than .25 inch and some could see less.

The actual chance for rain is about 40 percent.

Temperatures will drop about 20 degrees from Wednesday's levels.

The high at Sky Harbor Airport at 3 p.m. Wednesday was 77 degrees. By Saturday, the highs will be in the upper 50s.

The snow level will drop to about 4,500 feet, so places like Prescott and Payson may see some fresh powder with this sytem.

However, it appears most of the precipitation is headed to southeastern Arizona, as the storm system will continue south of the state.
