PHOENIX -- Afternoon temperatures will continue to soar today to levels well above normal for this time of year. The average high for today's date is 65 degrees, but we'll watch the mercury rise to about 78 degrees. The record for today's date is 81 degrees.

Overnight lows drop to the 40s tonight before we warm to the upper 70s again tomorrow under partly sunny skies.  High clouds will continue to stream into the state from the west, but temperatures will stay unseasonably warm through Thursday.

By Thursday night, rain and snow chances begin across Arizona as a storm system moves our way from the Pacific Northwest.  Snow is possible for Thursday through Saturday in the high country, and rain is possible in the Valley during that same time period, although our best chance of showers is Friday.

Temperatures will also plummet with this storm.  Valley highs will top out in the low 60s Friday and Saturday, with warmer temperatures likely for early next week.
