PHOENIX (AP) -- A man who ran a Phoenix daycare home where a 2-year-old girl was allegedly fatally injured last December has pleaded not guilty to felony child abuse.

Maricopa County prosecutors say Ryan Alan Reed, 27, entered his plea Monday. He has a Jan. 30 initial pretrial conference.

Medical examiners announced last week that Savannah Cross' death was caused by multiple traumatic injuries, acute methamphetamine exposure and dehydration.

Reed was re-arrested in November after new forensic details showed he allegedly molested the girl.

Authorities say Savannah was placed in the day care for weeks and months at a time by her mother, who was an erotic dancer.

Savannah later died at a Phoenix hospital. During an examination at the hospital, authorities say physicians found bruises all over the girl's body.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for Jan. 30.
