YOUNGTOWN, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is looking for the suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon outside a Best Western hotel.

Deputies are searching for Joseph Gonzales, 22, who is considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting happened Saturday night in the parking lot of the hotel near 111th and Grand avenues.

Witnesses said they heard a gunshot and saw a man lying motionless on the ground as a car sped away from the scene.

Witnesses also said they saw drugs lying around the victim, but the sheriff's office has not confirmed the information.

"I immediately rushed over as fast as I could and I found people standing around, chaos, people in shock, people on the phone," witness Mike Gilbart said. "I looked on the ground, a man was laying on the side of his face, partially under the car. ... I asked, 'Are you all right?' No reply."

Gonzales reportedly left the scene in a 1990s model gray-silver sedan. The vehicle was last seen traveling east on Grand Avenue.

Gonzales is described as a 6-foot-tall Black-Hispanic male, weighing about 160 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office at 602-876-1011.

The sheriff's office has not released details about the victim.
