PHOENIX -- A man who allegedly killed a person in an apparent domestic violence situation and fled the scene was arrested late Thursday night.

Kheylon T. Cunningham, 28, is accused of killing a 19-year-old man, Lemuel Warren, in a Phoenix apartment Thursday morning.

Phoenix Police Department spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said Cunningham was hiding in a nearby apartment most of the day and was apprehended when he tried to leave, without incident.

He was booked on charges of first-degree murder, burglary and aggravated assault.

Officers found Warren critically wounded in the apartment at 23rd Avenue and Heatherbrae Drive, a few blocks north of Indian School Road.

Police said he was shot in the chest around 7 a.m. He died at a local hospital.

Two other adults, a 6-year-old child and an infant were also inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, but they were not hurt.

Crump said a woman in the home had a relationship with Cunningham, which appeared to be part of the motive in the shooting.
