Phoenix weather: Rain and snow chances ThursdayPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A weak storm moves through Arizona today, bringing rain and snow chances to the state.
The area of low pressure will move in from the southwest, bringing the Valley a 20 percent chance of light rain this afternoon and evening. We'll see a partly cloudy day with an afternoon high of about 68 degrees. Snow levels should stay fairly high, bringing just light snow to the high country today and tonight.
The storm moves out overnight for dry and clear weather for Friday and the weekend ahead. Afternoon highs will stay in the upper 60s Friday and Saturday, then move into the low 70s from Sunday into early next week, with overnight lows warming to the 40s.
Skies should be mostly clear for those hoping to catch a glimpse of the Geminid meteor shower happening this weekend. Meteors may be visible tonight, but the meteor shower activity should peak Friday night and Saturday night with between 100 and 120 meteors per hour. You can view it any time overnight, but the best viewing time will be just before dawn, in the very early morning hours as the moon sets and the skies are darkest.
