SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- A man and woman have been arrested in a series of shoplifting incidents involving baby formula at Scottsdale-area grocery stores since May.

Scottsdale police say Jose Gonzalez, 25, and Lorita Piazza, 26, are accused in connection with 22 instances where baby formula was stolen from various stores and then sold for a profit online.

Police say the two suspects shoplifted from multiple Albertsons', Fry's, and Safeway grocery stores from May 9 to Nov. 6.

They allegedly admitted to using the proceeds of their illegal sales to support $100-per-day drug habits.

Gonzalez and Piazza were arrested on outstanding warrants on Dec. 4 after being pulled over on a suspicion of a speeding violation in Scottsdale.

Police say the two later admitted the robberies were their main source of income.
