TEMPE, Ariz. -- An 18-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly opening fire at a Tempe party, killing a man and injuring a woman.

Police arrested Daniel Taylor on suspicion of one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault. He was booked into the Tempe City Jail.

About 2 a.m. Sunday, Taylor allegedly fired multiple rounds into the patio area of an apartment on University Drive, west of Loop 101.

Jeff Ward, 28, was killed in the shooting, and the woman was treated at a hospital.

Tempe police said a Christmas party was taking place at the time.

Nearby apartments were evacuated Sunday morning while police searched for a suspect.

Police said Taylor apparently acted alone, but the shooting is still under investigation.
