SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A bicyclist is fighting for his life after a car hit him on a Scottsdale street Tuesday morning.
It happened at 58th Street and Thomas Road. Video from the scene showed the mangled bike.
Police said the driver of the car has been cited for impairment with the possibility of additional charges.
According to investigators, the bicyclist and the car that hit him were both heading east when the car hit the bike.
The bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Medical Center Osborn.
The vehicle pulled into a nearby parking lot. Police are talking to the driver.
The bicycle rider was still in critical condition on Tuesday evening, according to police.
Eastbound Thomas Road east of 58th Street was closed while police conducted their on-scene investigation. Westbound traffic was not restricted.
