HOLBROOK, Ariz. -- A reunion is in the works after a month-long search for a missing dog in Northern Arizona.

The dog, named Cody, went missing after his owners were involved in a rollover crash on Interstate 40 near Holbrook in early November.

The staff at Holbrook Animal Control used social media to spread the word about Cody's disappearance, and calls came in from all over town about possible Cody sightings.

"I'd holler for him, and he'd take off across the field," said Animal Control Officer Merrill Young, who eventually caught Cody this past weekend.

"He had that look in his face like, 'Thank God I don't have to run anymore!"

After a full month on the run, Cody is filthy, but in good condition.

Sadly, one of his owners passed away after the car crash, so his homecoming will be a great comfort to the rest of his family in Utah.

Rachel Berge of Holbrook volunteered to drive Cody to Utah this week. "It's definitely an emotional trip for me because I promised the couple I'd try to find him. I really didn't think we would," she told 3TV.
