PHOENIX -- The mother of Jhessye Shockley was back in court Monday for a pretrial conference.

Jerice Hunter is facing murder charges in the death of her young daughter, Jhessye.

Glendale police believe Jhessye was killed and her body put in a Tempe trash bin, before Hunter reported her daughter missing on Oct. 11, 2011.

Jhessye's body was never found. A 96-day search at a Phoenix-area landfill in 2012 ended without finding the girl's remains.

Hunter was arrested in September 2012. She maintains she is innocent and has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and child abuse.

Hunter is due back in court for a status conference on Feb. 3. Her trial is set to start in August..
