MESA, Ariz. -- A motorcycle rider was injured after being sideswiped by a van on U.S. 60 near Country Club Drive Monday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol investigator, the van was traveling in the lane to the right of the HOV lane when traffic abruptly slowed.

The van driver failed to slow with traffic and abruptly changed lanes into the HOV lane, striking the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist tumbled along U.S. 60 and was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center by ambulance.

His condition is unknown at this time.

The van driver was cited for unsafe lane usage.
