FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Ready to hit the slopes? The Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort near Flagstaff officially opened for the season Friday, thanks to a mix of early season snow and man-made snow.

Three ski runs, two lifts and a conveyor opened Friday. The resort's Hart Prairie Lodge also opened, providing restaurant service and equipment rentals.

General Manager J.R. Murray says the early opening is the result of the resort's new snow-making equipment. It was installed last year after a years-long legal battle with Indian tribes that consider the San Francisco Peaks sacred.

Murray says the equipment will now be moved to make snow on other runs.

The slopes were crowded with eager skiers Friday, all anxious to get the season started.

Forget Black Friday, Skiers were calling this "White Friday," because even the lure of Black Friday shopping deals couldn't keep them away. "Shopping's not my thing," one skier told us. "Skiing's my thing."

The slopes are open from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. An adult all-day lift ticket costs $59.
