Body found in Avondale canal

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Police are investigating after a body was found in an Avondale canal Thursday morning.

Two people riding quads along the bank near 103rd Avenue and Thomas Road found the body in the water at about 9:30 a.m., according to Avondale police spokesman Sgt. Brandon Busse.

Busse said the person is a white or Hispanic female and police are seeking the public’s help in identifying her.

She has no apparent signs of trauma and appears to be no older than 30. She is described as having long dark, curly hair, 5 feet 6 inches and 130 pounds. She was wearing a black shirt with Diamond Industries as the brand. She has a tattoo on the inside of her right wrist that says "West." She has gauged earrings that have a diamond picture on them and two lower lip piercings.
