PHOENIX -- It's a happy ending for a dog we all know as "Frankenberry."

The 2-year-old pit bull was found with a severe head injury last week when he was picked up as a stray near 51st Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix.

He has been recovering with Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.

The clinic staff at MCACC is not certain what happened to Frankenberry, but it looked like someone sliced the top of his head from ear to ear with a knife. The pit bull lost his ear as a result of the injury, but he is still able to hear.

MCACC is not sure if some injuries came from dog fighting, but the cut on Frankenberry’s head was not caused by another dog, Gable said.

The dog was nursed back to health and folks from all over the Valley have been offering to adopt him.

Now, he has found his new home and went home with his new owner on Wednesday. He's also been given a new name and will be called "Noah."
