2 Suspects beat store clerk with box of beerPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Police are looking for two people who beat a store clerk with a box of beer they were trying to steal.
On the night of Saturday, Oct. 5, two men entered an AM-PM mini-mart, located at 4245 West Bethany Home Road, and attempted a beer run. When the store clerk tried to stop them, one man punched the clerk and hit him with a box of beer.
The store clerk followed the suspects as they left and the man punched him. Both men entered a dark blue Chevy Avalanche truck and one picked up a black handgun, according to police.
“We really want to get the message out there to clerks not to pursue these suspects. You don’t know if they’re armed, you don’t know how dangerous they are. It’s just not worth your life,” said Silent Witness Sergeant Darren Burch.
One suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 20 and 25 years old. He is about 5 feet 11 inches, weighs 240 pounds, and has a tattoo on his right forearm, Silent Witness said. The second suspect is also a Hispanic male between 20 and 25 years old. He is about 5 feet 9 inches and weighs around 180 pounds.
“They’ve turned this beer run into an aggravated robbery into an armed robbery- very concerning. We need to get these guys off the street,” Burch said.
