An updated look at ASU single-season records in danger, Week 12

Posted: Updated:

Let's take an updated look at where some Arizona State players stand in their quest to break some Sun Devil single-season records.

Total Touchdowns: Current record - 22 (Whizzer White, 1950)

That's more like it. After two straight scoreless games, Marion Grice notched two rushing touchdowns against Oregon State, giving him 20 total touchdowns on the year, typing Terry Battle's 1996 season. With at least three, possibly four games left, this record is his barring injury.

All Purpose Yards: Current record - 2,065 (Whizzer White, 1950)

Grice put up 156 all-purpose yards against OSU (118 rushing, 13 receiving, 25 returning) to give him 1,673 on the year. At this current pace, Grice would finish with a record 2,174 in 13 games.

Points: Current record - 136 (Whizzer White, 1950)

With those two rushing scores, Grice now has 120 on the year, putting him on pace for 130. However, White played just 10 games that year, so Grice is currently trailing the points-per-game mark at 12.0 to 13.5.

Passing Yards: Current record - 4,036 (Brock Osweiler, 2011)

Taylor Kelly was held to just 182 yards against the Beavers, his second straight game under 200. He now has 2,838 through 10 games. That put him behind the record pace he was on (now 3,689), so some bigger numbers will be needed in the coming weeks.

Passing Touchdown: Current record - 30 (Andrew Walter, 2004)

Kelly was also held out of the endzone, and he remains with 24 through 10 games. He still is on pace to break the record with 31.

Total Offense: Current record - 4,126 (Brock Osweiler, 2011)

Kelly had just 189 yards of total offense against Oregon State (183 passing, 6 rushing), and he's now behind the pace to break Osweiler's record with 4,277 yards by season's end (pace: 4,095) . Kelly has already topped Osweiler's record with his seventh game of over 300 yards of total offense in a season.

Receptions: Current record - 87 (Shaun McDonald, 2002)

That's the Jaelen Strong we know. After a seven-reception, 106-yard effort against Oregon State, he is closing the gap with McDonald's standout 2002 season. Strong is now on pace for 77 in 13 games, so strong efforts over the next few weeks will get him back on track.

Receiving Yards: Current record - 1,405 (Shaun McDonald, 2002)

Strong is now on pace for putting him on pace for 1,084 yards through 13 games.

Field Goals Made - Current record - 28 (Luis Zendejas, 1983)

True freshman Zane Gonzalez has made 14 consecutive kicks, giving him 18 makes through 10 games weeks. That puts him on a pace of just over 23 for the year, so he will need a very slight increase in pace to top Zendejas.
