MOHAVE VALLEY, Ariz. – A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery and assault at a Mohave Valley bookstore.

Mohave County sheriff's detectives arrested Marcus Thomas Cruz, 23, a transient of Needles, Calif., on Wednesday. He faces charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, both felonies.

Sheriff's officials said a female employee of the business was showing hookah pipes to a male customer on Nov. 6 when he hit her over the head with one of the pipes.

He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Recently, detectives identified Cruz as the suspect.

The sheriff's office received a tip of Cruz's whereabouts early Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies and detectives learned that Cruz was meeting friends at a parking lot in the 10200 block of Harbor Avenue. Deputies waited for Cruz to arrive and took him into custody without incident.
