Girl, 11, fights off alleged attackerPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A Phoenix man is facing multiple sex crimes charges for allegedly molesting two girls between May and November of 2013.
Juan Cristobal Garcia, 50, was arrested Sunday.
He’s facing the following charges: Two counts of child molestation, one count of sexual abuse of a minor, one count of attempted sexual conduct with a minor and one count kidnapping for the purpose of sexual contact with a minor.
The alleged incidents occurred at Garcia’s home near 35th and Southern avenues.
Gracia lived at the home with his girlfriend, according to court documents. The girls Garcia allegedly molested are the 11-year-old and 8-year-old nieces of the girlfriend.
The 11-year-old girl told police that Garcia attacked her after she went swimming at Garcia’s house. She said she had to kick Garcia in the stomach to get away from him.
"He apparently grabs a towel disrobes her takes her to the ground and at some point is on the ground on top of her as she’s naked," said Sgt. Steve Martos with the Phoenix Police Dept.
That same girl said on another occasion Garcia molested her while she was sleeping on the couch.
The girl also reported a third incident where Garcia allegedly grabbed her when she was walking through the living room at Garcia’s home. The girl told police she punched Garcia to free herself.
The 8-year-old girl told police that Garcia molested her while she was sleeping at Garcia’s home.
The girls reportedly told their aunt about the alleged attacks and the aunt notified police.
Vanessa Salciedo was on the verge of tears after learning that her neighbor was accused of child molestation.
"I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say," said Salciedo, who has a daughter who played at Garcia’s house. "I don’t let my daughter go anywhere because I’m always thinking about things like that. It’s just really horrifying."
