PHOENIX –- Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire at a vacant house in southwest Phoenix Monday night.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded to a working house fire on T Ryan Lane near Southern and 59th avenues at 11:30 p.m.

Firefighters discovered the two-story house was fully involved and they had to take a defensive position and protect exposures.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one house and no other homes were damaged.

Investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire but said it appears suspicious at this time.
