Arizona tween competing in national contest needs your vote

PHOENIX -- An honors student at Bogle Junior High in Chandler, Tearra Sheidler is one of 10 dancers from throughout the United States nominated for the Showstoppers/Discount Dance model search 2013-2014.

Past Showstopper dancers are Brittany Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Hayley Mac Cooper (owner of Mac Enterprises), LeAnn Rimes, Beyonce, Kerri Russell (TV and movie star) and Sarah Margaret Qualley (model).

Tearra, the only finalist from Arizona, has been dancing since she was 2 years old, competitively since she was 4 years old.

"I feel when I am dancing I am in another world," Tearra said. "It just makes me feel happy and joyful."

Tearra, 12, qualified for the National search after finding success at a local competition and another at Disneyland. She is currently training at Center Pointe dance in Ahwatukee.

"Tearra is always a breath of fresh air on stage with her charismatic personality, athletic figure, and beautiful showmanship," Logan Reginato, award winning choreographer and company director, said. "Her passion for dance and hard work is a teacher’s dream. I am so proud of her work ethic and can’t wait to continue to watch her grow as a dancer."

Tearra dances a minimum of two hours a day some days she dances as much as eight hours. Tearra studies tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop.

The seventh grader also takes strength and tumbling classes.

"I sometimes miss out on birthday parties and events with friends, but I know to succeed at anything in life, you need to dedicate time and effort," Tearra said.

Tearra is also a cheerleader at Bogle Junior High. In addition, she spends several hours devoting time to philanthropies and truly giving back to the community. Some of her favorite philanthropies are Feed My Starving Children, ICAN, St. Andrews Giving Tree, and hosting a holiday dinner for 80 foster families.
