PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities say a homeowner in north Phoenix has shot a suspected burglar.
Phoenix police haven't released the name of the 44-year-old suspect yet, but say he's hospitalized in critical condition.
The unidentified homeowner isn't expected to be charged in Friday afternoon's shooting.
Police say the suspect jumped a fence and tried to get in the home about 3:30 p.m.
He was stopped by the homeowner, who shot him several times.
The suspect ran off and police believe there was a woman waiting nearby to pick him up.
Police later got a call from a Phoenix-area hospital saying the suspect had been brought in for treatment.
They say charges are pending against the suspect if he survives.
