FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) -- A Casa Grande man has been indicted for allegedly stabbing his mother to death last month and wounding his aunt.

Pinal County prosecutors say 38-year-old Joseph Cain Cecil is facing charges of premeditated first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

It's unclear if Cecil has a lawyer yet. He has a Nov. 25 pretrial conference.

County sheriff's officials say 65-year-old Ronna Thomas was found stabbed inside a home on Oct. 4. She later was pronounced dead at a Casa Grande hospital.

The victim's 63-year-old sister was taken to a Phoenix hospital for treatment after Cecil allegedly attacked her along with a neighbor who tried to help the victims.

Authorities say the unidentified neighbor hit Cecil several times with a shovel to stop the attacks.
