PHOENIX -- Thunderstorms were popping up around the Valley Monday night, soaking some areas and skipping others entirely.

Rain, thunder and lightning were reported in many areas. But most of the storms hit briefly, then moved on.

Showers soaked some roadways and wind gusts were reported up to 35 miles per hour.

But no severe weather alerts were issued. Strong cells were seen developing near Fountain Hills, and lots of rain was reported near New River.

Scattered showers were also reported in the south Valley, near Queen Creek and Chandler.
