Phoenix weather: Monday cold front could mean rain

PHOENIX -- A cold front will bring an end to the toasty temperatures we saw over the weekend.

After morning lows in the upper 40s and low 50s this morning, look for a partly sunny afternoon with temperatures peaking in the low 80s. As a cold front moves through the state from west to east today, clouds will increase and we'll see a slight chance of rain this afternoon and evening. There will be enough instability present that we could even thunderstorms develop.

Any rain in the Valley should be fairly light, and in the high country, that light rain could fall as snow by tomorrow morning as colder air moves in behind the front.

Valley rain chances continue through tomorrow morning and tomorrow should be much cooler, with afternoon highs only in the low to mid 70s.

Tuesday night's temperatures should bottom out in the low to mid 40s in parts of the Valley by Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will slowly warm back to the 80s by the second half of the week and next wekend.
