TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A Facebook page that featured photos taken of University of Arizona students abusing alcohol had been taken off the Internet after the university complained.
The anonymously run page showed photos of students passed out or vomiting. It had nearly 2,500 followers before it went offline Wednesday.
University officials considered the page a potential safety threat because students who seemed in need of help were being mocked instead.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that Facebook spokesman Matt Steinfeld said the site violated Facebook's standards.
Those standards don't allow pages that promote or encourage self-harm or that publish the personal information of others without their consent. The standards also require page creators to use their real names and identities.
