ANTHEM, Ariz. -- It's not even Halloween yet, but the first signs of Christmas are in the air! Tuesday morning, the giant Christmas tree arrived at the Outlets at Anthem.

It's the tallest fresh-cut Christmas tree in the nation. The white fir is 112-feet high, weighs 12 tons, and needs a crane and a crew of 14 to hoist it into place.

"It's just an amazing sight to see the tree lifted and put in place," says Sally Ann Martinez of the Outlets of Anthem.

To get an idea of the size of the tree, we compared it to:
-The Arizona State Capital building (90 feet)
-An official NBA Basketball court (94 feet)
-The tallest tree ever showcased in New York City's Rockefeller Center (90 feet)
-Splash Mountain at Disneyland in California (87 feet)
-The iconic Hollywood sign in California (55 feet)

The tree arrived after a four-day, 750-mile journey from northern California. Once decorated, the tree will reach 115 feet.

It will be topped by a handmade copper star. "We are the copper state," says Martinez. "So we had it commissioned for this special tallest tree in the nation."

This is the fourth consecutive year that the Anthem outlet shopping center will display the tree in its busy center court area during the holiday season.

Additionally, two unique handmade decorative wooden bowls from 2011's tallest tree in the nation will be on display and will be auctioned off during the holiday season. Bids will be accepted at and dollars raised will be donated in memory of Katie Wagner to We Care Anthem, a nonprofit charitable organization that helps seriously ill children and their families.
