PHOENIX -- A standoff between police and a suspect at an apartment complex ended peacefully Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at the Casa Mia Apartments on Pinchot Avenue near 32nd Street and Thomas Road and it lasted several hours.

It started when police were investigating a liquor store robbery.

A man who was riding down a street on a bicycle hit an officer and then ran into an apartment on the second floor.

A SWAT team was called out because officers were concerned that there may have been weapons inside the apartment.  Officers also suspected the individual who was on the bicycle may have been armed.

The other people who were in the apartment complied with commands from the police but it took some lengthy negotiations to get the individual who was on the bicycle to surrender peacefully.

Police have not determined if that man is connected to the liquor store robbery. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

The officer who was hit by the bicycle was not injured.

Investigators were still at the apartment early Tuesday morning looking for anything suspicious.
