Top-level wheelchair athletes compete in Duel in the Desert

PHOENIX -- The Virginia G. Piper Sports & Fitness Center for Persons with Disabilities is hosting the first annual Duel in the Desert.

The event will feature games between top-level wheelchair athletes in sports including wheelchair basketball, power soccer and quad rugby.

The event is free to the community and will occur on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. Games will go on all day and Duel in the Desert will include raffle prizes, food, drinks, and various activities.

All athletes will be competing in wheelchairs, and many hope to make it to the Paralympic Games one day.

Virginia G. Piper Sports & Fitness Center for Persons with Disabilities is located at 51Street and Washington.
