NOGALES, Ariz. -- A Tucson man was arrested this week after Border Patrol agents discovered hundreds of pounds of marijuana inside a shipment of corn tortillas.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a 37-year-old man in a Ford van was referred for further inspection Wednesday after he attempted to enter the U.S. through the Nogales Cargo facility.
Inside the van a detection canine allegedly located 44 packages of marijuana inside a shipment of tortillas.
The marijuana weighed almost 384 pounds, and had an estimated street value of $192,000.
The drugs were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, while the vehicle was seized.
