PHOENIX – A man accused of stabbing his wife and son is in custody.
Phoenix police said Stanley Holley, 36, took off after attacking his family at their home near 19th and Southern avenues early Monday morning.
"About 4 o'clock in the morning, for reasons unknown, while the family was sleeping he literally begins to physically assault the wife while she is in bed," Sgt. Trent Crump said.
Police said Holley attacked his wife with a baseball bat and a kitchen knife. The woman's 16-year-old son went in to protect his mother and was struck in the face and stabbed by his father, according to Crump.
The commotion in the house woke up two younger children, who ran next door for help.
Police said Holley fled in the family car and surrendered to police 24 hours later.
Police are working to figure out what triggered the violent attack.
Both victims are expected to recover.
Holley is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
