PRESCOTT Ariz. -- Three people died Wednesday in a head-on collision in Yavapai County.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred just before 8 a.m. on Outer Loop Road.
Inside one vehicle was 23-year-old Julianna Hersh, 15-year-old Joseph Hersh, 13-year-old Jeremiah Hersh, and 9-year-old Jess Hersh.
Julianna and Jess were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Jeremiah was transported to a hospital in Phoenix where he later died. Joseph was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center and has since been released from the hospital.
Friends of the victims gathered at Overflow Coffee in Chino Valley, where Julianna Hersh used to perform music during "Open Mic" night. Friends told 3TV the other siblings were musical as well, and participated in youth worship events at a local church.
"They were an extremely talented, very tight, close knit family," said Ronda Ehlert, Youth Pastor at "Chino Valley Word of Life."
Ehlert said the community's thoughts and prayers remain with the family.
"We love them; we are here for them," Ehlert told 3TV.
"I can't fathom," said another churchmember. "To lose half of your family, I can't put that into words."
The driver of the other vehicle has been identified as 63-year-old Elaine Anderson of Prescott. She was also flown to Flagstaff Medical Center and is expected to survive.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
