SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A Phoenix man was arrested Friday following an alleged road-rage incident in Scottsdale on Oct. 5.

John McLaughlin, 23, was booked on one count of aggravated assault.

According to Scottsdale police, a motorcyclist pulled up next to an SUV near Scottsdale Road and Ashler Hills Drive and pointed a knife at the driver.

As the 37-year-old male driver slowed down, the motorcyclist also slowed, which police said caused the driver's 6-year-old daughter to fear for her safety.

The rider sped off on his motorcycle, wearing a dark helmet with a red Mohawk. The victim also noted a tattoo on his forearm.

An officer recognized the description, which led to the identification of the suspect.

McLaughlin was arrested at his home while walking out to his motorcycle.

Officers recovered the knife and helmet.
