PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 29-year-old William Hewitt's vehicle was located just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening in an area off State Route 89A and the Granite Dells Parkway.

A Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputy approached the vehicle and Hewitt was found dead inside the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound.

Hewitt is believed to have killed 38-year-old Kristina Webb, whose body was found Friday afternoon in a remote area south of Mayer.

Hewitt was last seen in Mayer at around 10:45 a.m. Friday driving a tan 1979 Ford pickup truck with the license plate AXG9504.

YCSO said Hewitt was Webb's boyfriend and lived with her and her 5-year-old son in the Mayer area.

The child was present when his mother was killed, and is currently in protective custody.

According to YCSO, more details will be issued when available.
