Dr. Drew Pinsky will discuss child substance abuse at Scottsdale event

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Talking to kids and teens about drug use is important to do.

Debbie Moak, founder of notMYkid, visited Good Morning Arizona Sunday, October 13, to talk about an event featuring Dr. Drew Pinsky, one of the country's leading experts in teen behavioral health issues.

NotMYkid is an organization that encourages parents and family members to talk to their kids to help prevent drug use.

Dr. Drew is visitng to help raise awareness of and answer parent's questions about substance abuse. The event is also beneficial to adults such as teachers and coaches who work with children.

It is important to start the conversation with kids about substance abuse as early as elementary school, Moak said. The average age a kid will first try using drugs in the U.S. is 13.

Dr. Drew will be coming to the Montelucia Resort on Friday, Octboer 25, from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m.
