PHOENIX -- Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company officially opened their first office outside of the Northeast on Wednesday.
Senior company executives, employees, and Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton were on hand as the Fortune 100 company debuted its new location at Peoria Avenue and Interstate 17.
The space MassMutual is leasing is approximately 60,000 square feet, and was previously home to a Cigna call and operations center.
On Wednesday, Gov. Brewer said MassMutual’s decision to open an office in Phoenix speaks to a promising trend in the Valley.
“Just last month, Forbes rated Arizona as the number one state in the nation for expected job growth,” said Brewer.
MassMutual, which is based in Springfield, Mass., will be hiring 400 people to work at their new office.
Jobs will include customer and technical support, sales, and underwriting positions.
