PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix police found what they describe as a large amount of marijuana after officers responded to a reported home invasion.

Sgt. Steve Martos said two or three suspects tried to commit an armed burglary of home near the Loop 101 and Interstate 17 in northwest Phoenix early Tuesday morning.

He said one of the suspects fired a shot at a resident as the suspects left, but that the resident was not injured.

Martos said officers found the marijuana when they entered the home to see whether anybody else was in the home.
