Bras for a CausePosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Its year four of the “Mix 96.9 Bras for a Cause” and this year organizers are looking for people to become a “Breast Friend.”
A “Breast Friend” is a person or company that wants to donate a bra or become a drop off location.
Each bra donated is worth a $1 donation to the Sojourner Center courtesy of Larry H Miller VW in Avondale.
This year the campaign is focusing on the importance of not only breast cancer awareness and detection, but also the fact that October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.
The goal each year is to make mammograms more accessible, and to get people talking about breast cancer and how it affects all men and women in the Valley and around the world.
Again this year organizers are creating a huge wall of bras, along with their crusade to provide 96 mammograms to women who do not have the access to receive one on their own.
Rally your friends, family and co-workers to collect as many new or as gently used bras as possible for the "wall" and become a "Breast Friend."
Join the event on Oct. 11, as organizers hold the annual "Bra-cast" live from Tempe Marketplace 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the “Wall of Bras” displayed for everyone to see.
Women who have battled breast cancer and been victims of domestic violence will share their stories.
