Windy conditions across ArizonaPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- As a cold front approaches, we’re seeing very windy around Arizona.
In northern Arizona, the peak wind gust we saw as of 3:30pm was at Winslow, where winds peaked at 56 mph. In the Valley, Queen Creek has had winds in the 40s, while Sky Harbor Airport has reported winds in the mid-30 mile an hour range.
Blowing dust will be the rule around metro Phoenix for the evening hours. As a result, visibilities may be reduced drastically in some locations. Also because of all the dust, a high pollution advisory is out for metro Phoenix.
In northern Arizona, there’s also a chance for scattered snow showers above the 6500 foot level.
Places like Flagstaff could see 2-3 inches of snow, the first of the season. The storm is moving so fast we’re not expecting any major accumulations.
In the Valley, we could see some scattered, early morning showers, but not much in the way of significant accumulations.
Temperatures also continue to drop. By Thursday afternoon, our high will only be in the low 70s.
