Man pleads not guilty in string of East Valley robberies

PHOENIX -- A man has pleaded not guilty after being arrested in a string of robberies in the East Valley.

Luke Broeker, 30, entered his plea Wednesday morning. His next court date is Nov. 25.

He and his wife, Shannon Broeker, 27, were arrested Sept. 24 at a motel in Mesa.

They are suspected of committing 10 robberies since August at businesses such as Walgreens, Fry's, 7-Eleven and Goodwill.

Five of the robberies were in Gilbert, three were in Mesa and two took place in Chandler.

Gilbert police said the Broekers have four boys between the ages of 1 and 6. The children were reportedly inside the getaway vehicle during many of the robberies.
