SUN CITY, Ariz. -- A pickup truck was hit by a train early Monday morning, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened at 99th and Grand avenues.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

He somehow ended up off the roadway in an area of dirt and gravel when his truck got stuck on the tracks.

He jumped out of the truck just before the train smashed into it.

The train dragged the truck 30 to 40 feet before it was able to stop.

The driver of the truck was taken to jail for outstanding warrants.

The collision forced the closure of 99th and 103rd until about 6 a.m. All roads in the area are now reopened.
